Just the audio, as MP3

Lectures you recorded, your own podcast uploads, Creative Commons music: paste the link and keep the sound as an audio file.

If a size isn’t available, you get the closest one.

Higher than the source adds size, not quality.

Step by step

How to save from YouTube

  1. Copy the video link

Use Share, then Copy link on the video.

  2. Paste it here

Audio mode is already selected on this page.

  3. Choose format and bitrate

MP3 works everywhere. “Original” skips re-encoding and keeps YouTube’s own audio (usually Opus or AAC).

  4. Save

Tap Save file. Title and artist tags are added unless you switch them off.

Which bitrate should I pick?

YouTube’s own audio is usually around 128 to 160 kbps. Converting it to 320 kbps MP3 makes the file bigger without making it sound better. 128 kbps is a sensible default; choose “Original” for the most faithful copy.

Use it for what’s yours

Music on YouTube is usually licensed to YouTube, not to you. ClipMagpie is meant for audio you own or that’s openly licensed. For commercial music, the artist’s own store or streaming service is the right place.

YouTube questions

Does converting to MP3 improve quality?

No. Re-encoding can only keep or lose quality. Pick “Original” if you want exactly what YouTube stores.

Can I convert a whole playlist?

No, one video at a time. That keeps our server fair for everyone.

Why does it sometimes fail?

YouTube limits servers like ours. Support is best-effort; try again later if YouTube is blocking us.

Are songs tagged with title and artist?

Yes, when the info is available. Turn on “Strip title/artist metadata” under More options to skip it.
