Privacy, in plain words.

The short version: we don’t want your data. No accounts, no analytics, no ad trackers. Files aren’t stored. We don’t log the links you fetch.

When you fetch a link

• Your browser sends the link and your chosen options (quality, format and so on) to our processing server at api.clipmagpie.com.
• The server looks up the media and either gives you a direct link to the service’s own file, or a short-lived tunnel link that streams the file through our server. Tunnel details live in memory only, for about two minutes, and then disappear.
• Media passes through in a stream. It is never written to disk and never kept after your download ends.
• We do not log which links are requested, and our web server is configured without access logs.

Abuse protection

• Cloudflare Turnstile. Before your first download, an invisible Turnstile check confirms you’re human. Cloudflare processes signals from your browser for that check under its Turnstile privacy policy. Turnstile doesn’t use cookies to track you across sites.
• Session token. After the check, our server issues a short-lived token (minutes) tied to your network address. Your browser keeps it in session storage so you aren’t re-checked on every click. It contains no personal details and expires on its own.
• Rate limiting. To stop any one person from flooding the server, request counts are kept in memory per hashed network address, for a minute or so. We never store raw IP addresses.

Stored on your device

• Your options (quality, format, file names) in local storage, so they stick between visits.
• Recent links (the links you pasted, file names and times) in local storage. This never leaves your browser. Turn it off or clear it any time under “Recent on this device”; turning it off deletes it.
• That’s all. No cookies are set by ClipMagpie itself.

Hosting

This website is served by Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, briefly processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect against attacks. Our processing server runs on our own virtual machine.

Ads

ClipMagpie may show clearly labelled ads in the future to cover server costs. If we do, this page will be updated before they go live, describing exactly which network is used and what it collects, and the downloader itself will stay ad-free.

Children

ClipMagpie isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect anything from anyone.
