If a size isn’t available, you get the closest one.

Higher than the source adds size, not quality.

Step by step

How to save from X (Twitter)

  1. Copy the post link

On the post, tap Share, then Copy link. Both x.com and twitter.com links work.

  2. Paste it here

Paste into the box. Links with /video/1 or /photo/2 at the end are fine.

  3. Choose what to keep

Video for an MP4 with sound, Audio for just the soundtrack, Mute for silent video.

  4. Save it

Tap Save file. Posts with several videos show a picker so you can save one or all.

X “GIFs” are really videos

When someone posts a GIF on X, it’s stored as a small silent MP4. ClipMagpie converts it back into a real .gif by default, so it works in chats and editors that expect a GIF. Prefer the MP4 (smaller, smoother)? Switch off the GIF option under More options.

Posts with more than one video

If a post has several videos or a mix of media, you’ll get a grid. Save items one by one or tap Download all.

X (Twitter) questions

What quality are X videos saved in?

The highest bitrate version X stores for that video, usually up to 1080p for recent uploads (older videos are often 720p). Choosing a lower quality saves data.

Can I save videos from protected accounts?

No. Only posts a logged-out visitor can see will work.

Why did a post marked “sensitive” fail?

X hides sensitive media from logged-out visitors, so our server can’t reach it either.

Does it work with Spaces or live broadcasts?

No. ClipMagpie saves video and GIF media attached to posts, not live audio rooms or broadcasts.
